If all the expected new trucks arrive as anticipated, 85 percent of the drayage fleet calling at the Port of Long Beach and Port of Los Angeles will meet the air quality standard set for Jan. 1, 2012 within the next four months.
Nearly two-thirds of the fleet currently servicing the two ports now meets the 2007 emissions compliance standard due to take effect in two years. That number is expected to jump quickly this spring because a number of non-compliant trucks are operating in the harbor under a waiver that gives them until April 30 for their replacement trucks to arrive.
